On a fine Wednesday in March I went to the High Ropes course of Young Bristol, literally to learn the ropes, so that I can become
first an assistant, then eventually an instructor. Most of my fellow trainees
were young, still at college, studying to be sports instructors; one of my
friends from the Cheddar Caving Club was also there, a very able climber and SPA
instructor.
It was all very well explained, and we had plenty of
opportunity to have a go. I took plenty of notes so that I can revise what I
learned at home on a practice rig I have set up.
I
have a busy programme of mountain work coming up over the summer, but there should
be time later in the year to work on the High Ropes course. Watch this space.
