Hello, there!

I am a Mountain Leader and an assistant Cave Leader. To read about me, go to the about me page (listed above).

The other pages listed above are on specific areas of interest to mountain walking, or about my work as a Mountain Leader. The posts listed below are updates on what I have been doing recently.

music & magic

music

If you would like to play your musical instrument in the mountains, then let me know, and we can do a walk together with time set aside specifically for music-making.

A few things to think about:
  • How are you going to keep your instrument safe from the weather?
  • How are you going to keep your instrument safe from being dropped?
  • How are you going to keep yourself safe if you have to carry your instrument in wet conditions (when the ground may be slippery) or in windy conditions (when it may catch the wind and make difficult conditions even more difficult)?
Some of this can be mitigated by choosing a day with a favourable weather forecast, but mountain weather is very changeable, and it is important to stay safe even if the weather becomes unfavourable unexpectedly.

magic

Mountains are magical places, even busy mountains such as Snowdon.

The best way to experience magic in the mountains is to go quietly alone to the enchanted places. But if for whatever reason you go cannot go alone, instead, you and I can go together, and I will give you space and time to be alone when we arrive at the enchanted places, so that you can be quiet, and still, and open to the magic around.
